Traffic is the cornerstone of every online business. Without traffic, you have NOTHING. So that means, you better know how to build backlinks. Because today, building backlinks (and that means quality backlinks!) is KEY to SEO.
Building backlinks is something we’ve been devoting a lot of time to learn how to do well over the last year. We used to be very fortunate in that our niche authority site we had since 1999 was very well established and well respected, so over the years it had acquired a lot of links very naturally and organically. Except for in its earliest days when we were first launching the site, we never actively did any backlink building – because we never had to. People just linked to us very naturally. Even major media sites linked back to us (without our ever asking), as did some .gov and .edu sites. That’s just what happens when you are authentically an authority in your niche!
In more recent years, however, when launching our e-commerce sites and some other projects, we realized that to get traction for a new website today, you really have to work hard at building backlinks and you’ve got to have a very solid strategy for backlink building. Building a backlink profile today is all about getting high authority, high quality links from high authority, high quality sites. And that’s easier said than done.
So we really had to throw ourselves into learning how to build backlinks the right way – and that took a lot of research. In fact, we are still learning – its an ongoing process. We don’t just like to learn how to do something – we like to master it to the point of expert status. And backlink building is definitely no exception. And so on and on we go.
Here is our list of some of the best resources on building backlinks when its time to get serious about building backlinks – since, as we said, our process of learning never ends, we’ll be adding to this list as we come across more valuable resources we want to archive:
